Are you in?

One of my clients recently declared, “Rick, I’m all in.”

I was so inspired both by her words and even more by her commitment behind her words. And, you know what? She’s walking her talk. She’s doing the work, showing up for the homework, and staying focused on the difference she wants to make in the world — not just the return she hopes to get.

That got me thinking…

There’s a square on the Bigger Game board called Investment. It’s not just about money. It’s about emotional, energetic, behavioral, and yes, sometimes financial commitment. When you’re truly invested, things begin to grow. That’s just how energy works.

But let’s be honest. Sometimes we say we’re all in, when we’re not. I know I’ve done that. I tell myself I’m committed to my health, for example, but then ice cream shows up (on vacation, of course), or I let other “priorities” take over. No shame in that — but let’s at least tell ourselves the truth.

The work is in catching where we’re phoning it in. Where we’ve convinced ourselves that “kind of in” counts. It doesn’t. Being all in means there’s alignment between your words, your dreams, and your behavior.

And here’s the rub: when we’re focused on impact rather than return, the ROI often takes care of itself. The results show up — maybe not when or how we expected, but they come.

So I invite you to pause and ask:

Am I all in on this thing I say matters to me?

Am I taking action that matches my intention?

Not from a place of blame or shame, but from loving self-honesty. Whether it’s your self-care, your creative work, your business, or your relationship — where are you really invested, and where are you phoning it in?

When your work is fueled by what truly compels you, it doesn’t feel like work. It feels like purpose in motion.
