Want More? Two things you need to know now

Everything you’re about to read here is made up. Really. If you think about it… everything is made up. Your life… relationships… career… experiences… everything.

I believe it’s your birthright to create and design your life however you choose. And, I know it’s easy to get stuck along the way and loose sight of what you truly desire. Life can sometimes be hard. It can throw a curveball when you least expect it, and cause you to loose focus with what is truly important.

And I have a huge assumption about why you’re still reading… You want more!

I believe we all want more, and the “more” that I’m referring to is not more money or stuff; but rather a life more about purpose, and less about the material things we’ve accumulated. A life filled with more honesty. More intimacy. More friendships. More inspiration. More meaning.

Following are two (2) ideas I use to keep myself on track with “more.” Each points me in a forward direction. I encourage you to give them a try:

1). Share your big dream.

For years I’ve wanted to share my message from the big stage. And I mean the really BIG stage. The more people the better. I kept this dream hidden for a long time, assuming that folks would think my big dream was more about me, and less about my message. It’s not; and it’s time to be out about this!

Closeted dreams are a waste. Like the clothes in your closet, you should wear them proudly for the world to see, or throw them away and find a new dream (or shirt!).

Try this:

Tell your big dream to 10 people within the next 24 hours and notice what it awakens in you (hint: you’ll get excited and feel more alive; it’s so freeing to finally say your big dream out loud).

2). Start to know something.

For the longest time, whenever Chuck and I would have a business development discussion, we would come up with a great idea and immediately ask, “Okay, how are we going to do that? How will we find the time? How will we find the money?”

Our answer was always, “I don’t know.” Which meant that the idea was dead on arrival.

Now here’s the deal with “I don’t know.” If you keep saying, “I don’t know,” that’s exactly what you’ll get.

Try this:

Instead of saying “I Don’t know,” start your sentence with “What I know is…”and see what falls out of your mouth.

Remember, it doesn’t matter if you have the right answer. It might sound something like: “What I know is that I don’t have the answer right now. What I know is there’s work for me to do here.”

If you don’t know how to complete the sentence, make something up (and have fun with this)!

Here’s to the “more” in your life, whatever that might look like for you. Share your thoughts here.

More to come-

    Hello Rick,
15 years ago I took a Bigger Game workshop. I can trace the roots of my current project to that workshop. Please check out http://www.gracetrail.com and my TEDx talk entitled,”Cracking the Grace Code”. I am just this month releasing new products and I believe I am in the June issue of Good Housekeeping. Grace Trail is having traction and attention worldwide.
Would you like to set up a time to talk about co-creating possibilities?
I hope so. Sending my best, Anne

Anne, I love your story and website, great inspiration! I’m walking a few days of the sunshine coast trail in BC canada this year and will think of those questions, and perhaps leave a few of stone message on the trail as well. Rick has come in and out of my coaching journey as well, and I’m so grateful to him for always showing up as his authentic self! That has been the greatest lesson to me, that he clearly demonstrates. Thank – you Rick!
